Yamato (Japanese: ヤマト, Hepburn: Yamato?), which was previously referred to as My Home Daddy (Japanese: マイホームダディ, Hepburn: Maihōmudadi?), [Japanese name: Borrowing] is a boss introduced in Super Darius, later appearing as one of the two bosses of the Earth Stage of Darius II. It is shaped after a common hermit crab (Pagurus bernhardus).

If the outher shell is taken away, leaving only the main body, it can parasitize another large weapon and take control of it. The parasitic ship inside the battleship on Earth was called by the codename "Yamato".
Appearance
Darius II
Yamato has the appearance of a giant mechanical common hermit crab fused with a warship.
It resembles a battleship merged with a common hermit crab, carrying a large armored hull that looks like a naval vessel, complete with turrets and structures on top. Its claws and legs extend from beneath the hull.
Once the hull is removed, its true form is revealed a robotic gray common hermit crab with sharp claws, long legs, gold eyes, and a rounded, mechanical core exposed on its back.
Super Darius/Darius Plus/Darius Alpha
In Super Darius, Darius Plus, and Darius Alpha, Yamato (also called My Home Daddy) looks like a fusion of a battleship and a common hermit crab. Its lower half is a robotic gray common hermit crab with sharp claws, red fox eyes, and thin legs, while its upper body is covered by a large green ship-like conical shell with turrets and cannons.
Super Darius II

In Super Darius II, Yamato keeps its theme of a warship fused with a robotic crab.
It carries a massive battleship-like hull as armor, complete with turrets and deck structures, while its crab claws and legs extend below.
The armor drops away, revealing a sleeker robotic gray common hermit crab body with sharp claws, spindly legs, red eyes, and a mechanical core exposed on its back.
Gameplay
Darius Plus, Darius Alpha, and Super Darius versions
Despite the ridiculous name, My Home Daddy is a very tough boss. It will attack with a electrical discharge from the top and by throwing explosives which detonate on the ground. Its head is the weak point, but the player can destroy the top of the shell to nullify the lightning attack.
Darius II
Before fighting the actual boss, the player will encounter the real WWII Yamato battleship, which despite being wrecked is still operational. After taking down all of it's cannons the boss will burst out from it, using a piece of the ship's hull as it's shell. After destroying the ship remain its body finally gets exposed so the player can damage it, but at this point it will start attacking by shooting pink spheres aimed at the player while moving around.

Etymology
The name "Yamato" is in Japanese which means: "great harmony".
Trivia
- Yamato takes its name from the actual Japanese battleship. That ship, according to Darius II, was taken on by the hermit crab "Yamato".
- Yamato appears on another Taito game, Bubble Symphony/Bubble Bobble 2, as a boss character.
- Another Hermit Crab creature somewhat similar to Yamato appears in Metal Black as the first stage's mid-boss. However, this time, the aircraft carrier is fused with the crab.
- Rarely in Super Darius II there are two Yamato one: it is a boss in zones K and M. And two: it is a captain in Zone U.
