Devil Fish (Japanese: デビルフィッシュ, Hepburn: Debirufisshu?) (known as Ichtyion in Super Nova) is one of the "paired" bosses (same boss in 2 different zones) of Darius Force. Interestingly enough, in the special boss endurance mode it is called "Ichtyion" instead of Devil Fish. It is shaped after a Giant Squid (Architeuthis dux).
Appearance
Devil Fish takes the form of a mechanical giant squid. Its body is long and streamlined with multiple sharp small tentacles, it has two different ones, the left one has a cannon and the right one is long and formed with orbs that ends in a claw. The design mixes organic squid features with metallic plating and glowing details.
Zone G
The Zone G version has a salmon body with light gray parts and a goldenrod. It has a light blue orb inside its front and its eyes are goldenrod-colored.
Zone I
The Zone I version has a silver body with gray and purple parts. It has a light blue orb inside its front and its eyes are purple.
Gameplay
Its attack patterns depends on the zone where the player faces it.
Zone G (red)
All its firepower is based on lasers. When the battle starts, it charges and shots a paser-based spread shot from its nose-like cannon, and grenades from its head. It also has a huge tentacle (just as Mudy Crystal) that makes serpent-like moves, but it won't regenerate after the player destroys it. The tentacle, the cannon and its forehead are the first Devil Fish's weak points. When the three are destroyed, it will show up a blue spot (its last weak point) on its forehead, from where it will shot small laser bullets.
Zone I (gray)
Same as the former. The difference is that its first attack, besides of its grenades, is a normal gun (normal from enemy's perspective) and the blue spot will shot normal-based spread shots.
